The SP 1500 is the second-largest slipform paver in Wirtgen's product range, and is ideally suited for paving motorway carriageways. Working on its own, the four-tracked machine paves single-layer concrete slabs. In combination with a second SP 1500, it is the ideal machine for dual-layer paving of motorway carriageways.
Wirtgen slipform pavers are extraordinarily efficient when used in motorway construction. Dowel bars and tie bars are inserted into the concrete automatically. The large pavers - SP 1500, SP 1500 L and SP 1600 - are capable of paving concrete slabs across the full carriageway width and in single-layer or dual-layer application.

Wirtgen slipform pavers are ideal candidates for the construction of airport runways, taxiways and other traffic surfaces. Finishing beam and super smoother, burlap or texture curing machine can be used in any given combination, ensuring superior functional properties of the completed surface. Further options enable paving on previously laid steel reinforcements, and paving with special profiles.

Dual-layer concrete paving offers maximum economic efficiency for paving motorway carriageways. A bottom-layer paver produces the first layer consisting of, for instance, economical recycling concrete. The top-layer paver follows immediately behind, paving the second layer consisting of high-quality, low-noise material, such as washed concrete. Both layers are produced "wet-in-wet" in a single working operation.
